Ramarajan was a famous actor in the 1980s, who got paid on par with what Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan were earning then. He was among the top heroes with many successful movies.

He fell in love with his co-star Nalini and they got married to her in 1987. The couple was blessed with a pair of twins.

The actor mainly played village-based characters in his movies. His bright coloured clothing and thick lipstick were among the traits which are still remembered up to today.

Ramarajan's career took a plunge later when the movie industry started adapting a new style in the 90s and 2000s. The trend changed, and people were no longer interested in village-based stories. More emphasis was given on dance moves, fighting scenes, and so on.

The actor, together with the likes of former top heroes Mohan and Vijayakanth struggled to stay in the industry, while actors such as Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Sathyaraj, and Sarathkumar adapted to the new trend.

Ramarajan got divorced in the year 2000 due to irreconcilable differences with Nalini.

In 2012, the actor played the lead role in 'Medhai'. But the movie failed and he turned into a politician instead.
