The body of six-year-old A. Tishant, who was previously reported missing in Taman Bukit Indah, Iskandar Puteri, Johor, has been found buried in a bush area in Rompin, Negeri Sembilan.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof, confirmed that the remains were discovered around 4.30 PM on Monday by a team from the Jempol District Police Headquarters (IPD).
The boy’s biological father, 36, has been arrested in connection with the case. He was initially detained after lodging a police report claiming that his son had gone missing from a kopitiam.
"Based on early examination, there were no visible injuries on the victim’s body. However, police are not ruling out the possibility that strangulation could be the cause of death," said Ahmad Dzaffir.
The child's body has been sent to Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities are awaiting the full autopsy report to confirm the cause of death.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or a maximum of 40 years' imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction.
Earlier, Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan, said that the boy’s disappearance was reported by the father at 2.15 AM on July 24.
