Acclaimed Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has responded publicly to recent sexual harassment allegations made against him on social media. The claims, which surfaced a few days ago via now-deleted posts, accused the actor of inappropriate behaviour involving a young woman, including so-called “caravan favours.”

In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Vijay firmly denied the allegations, calling them "baseless and malicious."He stated that the posts appeared to be part of a smear campaign aimed at damaging his reputation.

“Anyone who knows me even remotely will laugh at this. I know myself too. This kind of filthy accusation can’t upset me,” he said. “My family and friends are disturbed, but I tell them to let it slide.”

Vijay confirmed that he has filed a complaint with cybercrime authorities regarding the posts, which were made by an X (formerly Twitter) user named Ramya Mohan, who claimed that the actor had exploited someone known to her. Among other things, the posts alleged that Sethupathi offered monetary compensation in exchange for inappropriate favours.

While the original posts were taken down shortly after being published, screenshots had already begun circulating online.

Vijay also questioned the timing of the allegations, suggesting they may be linked to the recent success of his latest film,Thalaivan Thalaivii.

“My new film is doing well. Probably, some jealous elements think that by tarnishing me, they can damage my film. It doesn’t work that way,” he said, adding that social media has created a space where unverified claims can spread unchecked.

Despite the controversy, Sethupathi expressed confidence that the matter would not derail his personal or professional life, stating he has dealt with unfounded criticism before and will continue to rise above it.
