Chiyaan Vikram's upcoming film Thangalaan has the perfect combination of talent and vision helmed by maverick filmmaker Pa Ranjith, the director behind the Cannes International Film Festival hit 'Natchathiram Nagargirathu'. Anticipation is high as the audience awaits to see the magic unfold from this National award-winning actor and socially responsible filmmaker.
Produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under Studio Green, with co-production by Neelam Productions, the film is generating a lot of buzz. According to recent interviews with the production house's CEO Dhananjayan, the makers are planning to take Thangalaan to the Oscars, as they believe it has a universal story that can resonate with audiences worldwide.
Having said that, the film's storyline revolves around a real-life event that took place in Kolar Gold Fields decades ago, focusing on the land politics between the indigenous people and the colonial force. This subject matter indicates that the film will delve into social and political issues, which aligns with Pa Ranjith's reputation for making socially responsible films.
Thangalaan is scheduled for a grand festival release in 2024, most probably on Pongal but the movie makes its debut in the film festivals from August itself. Then, it will race for the Academy Award for sure. Thangalaan stars Chiyaan Vikram, Pasupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Tiruvothu, Daniel Caltigarone, Harikrishnan and many others with music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The film will be released in Pan-Indian languages in 2D and 3D.
