Suriya revealed that the move was primarily to support Jyotika’s needs. "At the age of 18 or 19, she moved to Chennai and has spent nearly 27 years there, while only spending her first 18 years in Mumbai," Suriya explained. "She was with me and my family, sacrificing her career, friends, and the lifestyle she enjoyed in Bandra. It was time for her to reconnect with her roots."
He further elaborated on how important it was for Jyotika to have time for herself and her loved ones. "She's happy spending time with her parents after 27 years. Whatever a man needs, a woman also needs. I realized she deserved vacations, time with friends, financial independence, respect, and personal time. Why should her needs always come second? That was the driving thought behind our move."

Suriya also expressed his joy in seeing Jyotika thrive. "I’m proud of her growth as an actor and as an individual," he said. Discussing their children’s education, he highlighted, "Our kids, Diya and Dev, were in an IB school, and Chennai had limited options for that. Mumbai offered more opportunities for them, so we decided to shift."
On balancing his time between the two cities, Suriya shared his approach: "I ensure I’m in Mumbai for at least 10 days each month, during which I disconnect from work entirely. For the rest of the month, I don’t mind long shooting hours. But those 10 days are dedicated to my family – walking with my daughter to the park, going for drives, having ice cream, or taking my son to basketball practice."
