In preparation for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season, PLUS Malaysia has announced the activation of 28 "Smart Lane" locations along the PLUS Highway to help alleviate traffic congestion.
In a Facebook post on 26 March, the toll expressway operator explained that the "Smart Lane" system allows temporary use of emergency lanes as additional traffic lanes during peak periods.
How to identify and use the mart lane ?
Motorists should watch for flashing green lights and "Smart Lane" signage to determine when the emergency lane is open for use.
- When the green light is flashing and the sign is displayed, the emergency lane is open for regular traffic.
- When the green light is off, the emergency lane must not be used.
- Pay attention to specific activation times displayed on the signage.
PLUS Malaysia also reminded motorists to adhere to the 60km/h speed limit when using the Smart Lane to ensure safety.
