15 Malaysian Indian Youth Among 52 Delegates Representing Malaysia In Russia

From Malaysia to Russia, a group of young Malaysians is showing that the voice of youth can travel far beyond borders.

A delegation of 52 Malaysian youth and teen leaders is currently representing the country at the International Youth Festival 2026 in Yekaterinburg, Russia, joining thousands of young people from around the world for a week of cultural exchange, conversations and new connections.

Among the Malaysian delegates are 15 Malaysian Indian youths and teens, including Vichitra, Dr Losheni, Thasshidaran, Lakshmy and Hashatiniy.

For these young Malaysians, the festival is more than an international event. It is an opportunity to share a little of Malaysia with people from different countries while learning about their cultures, experiences and ideas.

Throughout the festival, the delegates are taking part in intercultural sessions, exchanging perspectives and meeting young people who could become future leaders in their respective countries.

Their participation also offers a glimpse into the diversity of Malaysian youth, showing that Malaysia's strength lies in its many communities, cultures and voices coming together as one.

For the 15 Malaysian Indian participants, being part of the delegation is particularly meaningful. They are not only representing their own community but carrying the Malaysian flag and sharing the country's identity, experiences and aspirations on a global platform.

The delegation is also highlighting the role young Malaysians can play in leadership, youth diplomacy and international exchange, building friendships and networks that can continue long after the festival ends.

The Malaysian delegation's participation was made possible through the Malaysian Youth Council (MBM), which works with the International Youth Festival (IYF) Directorate on global initiatives, international exchange programmes and youth diplomacy efforts.

For these young delegates, the journey to Russia is more than a trip abroad. It is a chance to step beyond familiar surroundings, meet the world, learn from others and show what Malaysian youth can bring to the global conversation.

And sometimes, representing a country is not about making the loudest statement, it is about showing up, carrying your country's name with pride and letting the world hear your voice.
