Foreign Man Creates Havoc At Ipoh Temple, Destroys 15 Statues

A 25-year-old foreigner, believed to be under the influence of drugs, was arrested after he vandalised 15 statues of deities at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Kampung Dusun Bertam, Ipoh.

According to Perak deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Lim Hong Shuan, the incident took place around 1.50am on Aug 17, and the accused was arrested at 4.15am the same day. Police also seized a spanner in the incident.

The man, who was reported positive for drugs, is believed to have run away from his employer.

DCP Lim said the case will be investigated under Sections 295, 427, 448 of the Penal Code and Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act.
