Young Inventors Strike Gold In Innovation Fair With Can Compacting Machine!

  • 12 Jul 2020

Tamil school students have done it again!

This time, a group of young inventors from SJK(T) Pusat Telok Datok in Banting, Selangor, has won gold in the E-NNOVATE (International Innovation Fair) held in Poland from July 6 to 8, via remote participation, due to travelling restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The students, namely U Taarshini, G Kavinesh, B Kanieysh, P Mathangi, and R Thayalan, created the Domestic Aluminium Can Compactor (DACC) to bring home the top prize in the competition - beating competitors from 13 other countries in the environment category of the competition.

The device compresses aluminium cans into small packages, where they can be sold for money or used to build other environment-friendly items.

They now qualify for the special award, for which they have to undergo a several more layers of vetting.

This is not the first time the young inventors have won the gold for their invention.

Last year in Bali, the same group swept the gold, and 1 million Indonesian Rupiah, in another science exhibition held in Bali, Indonesia.

It is worth noting that this is the second time Tamil school students have won the gold in international science fairs, since last week.

Another group of students from SJK Tamil Taman Melawati bagged a gold medal in the International Innovation Competition In Canada, also held via remote participation on June 30, with their "My soil, my plant" invention.

The patented invention matches plants with the type of soil it is best cultivated on.
