A poor farmer from Sabah has struck gold by winning a cool RM19.88 million in the Toto Sports jackpot.

The 46-year-old's winning number - 1793 & 5181, were of registration numbers of different cars he often spotted in his neighbourhood.

"I think that must have been a hint for to strike the lottery," he was reported saying, in the New Straits Times (NST).

The lucky man could only collect his winnings a month after his win, as he could not afford to buy a flight ticket to Peninsular Malaysia.

He worked odd jobs to afford the ticket as he did not want to borrow from friends or relatives, for not wanting them to know of his winnings.

According to the daily, the farmer turned millionaire plans to use the money to help his children start their own businesses.

Another punter who owns a car workshop in Negeri Sembilan won a whopping RM6.6 million after spending only RM1 to take the
Star Toto 6/50 Jackpot 1.

The win could not have come at a better time for the 48-year-old, as his business was badly affected during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

Lucky punters nationwide have won a collective RM33.69 million since the sports betting operations resumed under the Recovery MCO.
