Hand sanitizers made out of cow urine is set to hit the market in India next week.

According to Times of India, a Gujarat-based cooperative will release the sanitizers named Go-Safe, as a 100% natural alternative to alcohol-based sanitizers in use to ward off the COVID-19 threat.

This is the not the first cow-based product the cooperative- Kamdhenu Divya Aushadhi Mahila Mandali, has come out with.

Previously, they launched surface sanitizers named Go-Protect and a room cleaning liquid called Go-Clean, both made out of cow urine.

It is also not the first time cow-urine had been turned into hand sanitizers. Back in March, when the coronavirus started spreading in India, a company had sold orange and lemon-flavoured hand sanitizers made from cow urine.

The products, called Cowpathy, were put on sale on Amazon.

Earlier, a Rajasthan-based firm had also reportedly started making and selling disposable face masks using paper made from cow dung.

For the record, cows are revered as holy by the Hindus, and its urine is commonly used as a disinfectant.

This comes amid the number of COVID-19 cases in India having passed the 4.3 million mark.

Latest statistics show that India has a total of 4.37 million confirmed COVID-19 cases, and more than almost 74,000 deaths from the coronavirus.

The country is now in the second place in the list of countries worst hit by the virus outbreak, just after the US.

Globally, COVID-19 has infected over 27.7 million people and killed more than 900,000 people.
