Three districts in Sabah and one district in Selangor will be placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from Friday, October 9, the government announced today.

According to Senior Minister (security cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the districts - Sandakan, Papar, Tuaran in Sabah, and Klang in Selangor, will be put under the CMCO for 14 days, after they were categorized as COVID-19 red zones (areas with more than 40 active cases) by the Health Ministry.

Ismail, in a press conference broadcast live on Facebook today, said the decision was made in a special meeting by the National Security Council, following the Health Ministry’s briefing about the current virus outbreak in these four districts.

Beginning Oct 9, only essential services and approved industries will be allowed to operate in these four districts, while eateries, taxi and e-hailing services, as well as petrol stations will only be allowed to operate from 6am to 6pm daily.

Travel in and out of the areas will also be restricted.

As of Tuesday, Oct 6, Klang recorded 77 COVID-19 cases, out of the 232 active cases recorded in Selangor.

Also as of the same day, a total of 13,504 confirmed COVID-19 cases, and 141 deaths from the disease have been recorded in the country.
