MIC Chief: Anwar's Attempt To Take Over Putrajaya a 'Waste of Time' If No Names Given

MIC-Chief-Anwar-s-Attempt-To-Take-Over-Putrajaya-a-Waste-of-Time-If-No-Names-Given

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's attempt to take over Putrajaya is a "waste of time", unless he provides the real numbers and names of MPs who are allegedly supporting him, said MIC.

"Anwar has not provided any names to the King and if he does not produce any names, then any Tom, Dick and Harry can say they have the numbers.

"So, if there are no names or numbers, then it's a waste of time," MIC president SA Vigneswaran was quoted telling The Star.

Meanwhile, Vigneswaran also appeared to be in the dark about the postponement of his audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, scheduled for tomorrow.

The King, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, is expected to meet party chiefs to gauge their standing, after Anwar met him yesterday to hand in documents allegedly showing that he had majority support to form a new government.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is scheduled to have an audience with the Agong tomorrow, while the King's meeting with DAP's Lim Guan Eng, and Amanah head Mohamad Sabu, scheduled for today and next Wednesday, respectively, have been postponed.

Anwar, who is also Port Dickson MP, had yesterday held an audience with the Agong at Istana Negara, which he said later was to hand in documents showing he had "strong, formidable" majority support from MPs.

Following the audience, however, Comptroller  of the Royal Household of Istana Negara, Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said Anwar merely gave the King the numbers of MPs who allegedly supported him, but did not provide any names.

As such, the King had advised Anwar to follow and respect the legal process as stipulated in the Federal Constitution.

Speaking at a press conference later, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said he would leave the matter to the King's discretion, and that he would rather focus on the people's welfare than being drawn into "political games."
