Cops Nab DAP's Ronnie Liu For Allegedly Insulting YDP Agong

  • 28 Oct 2020

Police have detained DAP's Ronnue Liu for sedition.

This is over a recent post on the Sungai Pelek assemblyman's Facebook page, which is deemed seditious towards the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The said post on Liu's page involved photos of demonstrations in Thailand with the caption: "Now in Bangkok. They are saying no to the King."

According to Free Malaysia Today, Liu was detained when he turned up at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters for questioning this morning.

Meanwhile, Malaysiakini reported that Liu was released on police bail in the afternoon, after questioning.

Police in a statement yesterday confirmed that they are probing several individuals for putting up posts insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The insults were allegedly made after the King's advice was sought when the government wanted to impose an emergency to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

The King rejected the emergency request, saying the government was doing a fine job handling the pandemic. The Ruler further urged politicians to cease politicking as the pandemic is still raging.
