Tamil Schools Have Not Been Left Out in Budget 2021, Minister Assures

  • 10 Nov 2020

Tamil schools have not been left out in Budget 2021 allocations, MIC deputy president M Saravanan has assured.

In fact, there has been a change in approach this year, and the government will announce the breakdown of the allocation for vernacular schools soon, the Human Resources minister said, in response to allegations that vernacular education has been omitted in next year's budget.

"Previously, the government provided a special allocation of RM50 to RM100 million for vernacular schools and they were announced separately, but this year, it was not mentioned and the people are unhappy about it.

"This year, it is included in the Education Ministry’s allocation of RM50.4 billion," Bernama quoted Saravanan telling a press conference in Parliament yesterday.

"Hence, I advise the Indian community to be patient until the announcement is made," he added.

According to Saravanan further, Senior Education Minister Mohd Radzi Jidin is expected to announce the breakdown of allocation for vernacular education soon.
