Astro Kem Badminton is heading to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, in search of future badminton champions!

This year, the camp will be held at Olympia Badminton Arena. All Malaysian children aged 10 to 12 years old are welcome to participate in this Selection Camp and stand the chance to be trained by professional coaches, Chan Chong Ming, as well as Chew Choon Eng who made Malaysia proud as national athletes before.

Chan is the current head coach of Malaysian national women's doubles squad, while Chew is the coach for Malaysian professional pairs, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying and Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong.

Astro Kasih is looking forward to the Sabah Selection Camp as the camps in Johor, Penang and Kuala Lumpur drew over 900 young shuttlers. The pre-registration in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is still open so register for free now at https://www.astro.com.my/rancangan/kem-badminton.

Participants can also walk-in on the event day itself on 23 July starting from 8AM – 1PM.

For the uninitiated, Astro Kasih has been championing education through Astro Kem Badminton (AKB) since 2012, to give more children the chance to achieve their dreams of becoming the next badminton champions by motivating, training and challenging them so they could proceed to the final camp at the end of the year.

AKB is a grassroots development programme to discover young badminton talents and uplift the standards of the sports. To date, AKB has trained over 16,000 children, identifying promising players and providing coaching and mentorship to nurture them towards becoming professional athletes. Astro continues to champion the development of badminton as a unifying force in our community.

Some alumni of AKB include Jacky Kok, Myisha, Valeree Siow, Wan Muhammad Arif, Go Pei Kee and more, who are now representing Malaysia in international arenas.
