Astro Gempak has evolved from being a content creator to a product owner, with their first ever product collaboration with renowned Malaysian fashion designer Datuk Radzuan Radziwill.

Both have collaborated on the "face masks" bandwagon with their tie-dyed batik designed face masks, which articulates our "Jalur Gemilang" in the most creative way to display patriotism in conjunction with the Merdeka month.

Radzuan, who has always been an advocate of Malaysian culture, believes that the Malaysian flag-motif inscribed masks, which was launched on August 10, will give Malaysians an opportunity to parade patriotically, at the comfort of their own space. This Merdeka Face Mask can also ultimately become a symbol of "Safe Together", which jives back to the Astro Group's campaign proposition for this Merdeka.

The Gempak X Radzuan Radziwill Merdeka Face Masks are available for purchase on Radzuan's website, at RM20 each, with one set of extension and 3 ply 50 gsm non-woven filter. To make the deal better, two designs of the masks are sold at a combo price of RM35 a set.

The material used for the mask are in compliance with the World Health Organisation's (WHO) guidelines for fabric face masks, which requires the inner part of a mask to be made out of cotton, and a "pocket" in the middle to fit the 3 layer 50gsm non-woven filer. The polyester fabric on the outside gives it non-absorbent qualities - filtering out unwanted germs in the air we breathe.

Astro Gempak has deployed its assets to ensure the campaign rolls out as planned, and to market the product.

This includes having Astro Go Shop help out by bundling 50 disposable face masks with the Merdeka Face Masks set. For the penny wise, RM49 for a set of 50 disposable masks and a set of washable face mask made by a well-known local designer is definitely a great bargain!

Although the Merdeka Face Masks campaign ends on Sept 30, the partnership between Astro Gempak and Radzuan will not end there.

With Radzuan having his own resort, the Kunang-Kunang Heritage Villas in Langkawi, there are endless touchpoints to explore, on top of his active contribution to the Yayasan Tuanku Nurzahirah.

From every purchase of this mask, RM1 will be donated to Yayasan Tunku Nurzahirah to help the less fortunate who have been affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) enforced to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The one-of-a-kind mask design already has fans in the form of royals, as well celebrities.

Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah has donned the mask, as have Malaysian actor and model Syafiq Kyle and Neelofa's sister Little Miss Khan.

This partnership marks a new milestone for Astro Gempak in diversifying its business.
