A newly-wed girl died of a cardiac arrest due to excessive crying as she was being sent off to live with her in-law's family.

According to Hindustan Times, the incident happened last Friday at the Sonepur district in Odisha. The victim, Gupteswari Sahoo, got married a day earlier, and she was about to be sent off to her husband's house on Friday morning, she started crying excessively before fainting.

Gupteswari's family tried to revive her by giving her a massage and splashing water on her face, but to no avail. She was then rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Doctors later confirmed that the victim had died of a cardiac arrest caused by "excessive crying".

The victim had reportedly been under a lot of stress since the death of her father several months ago.

Her marriage was reportedly arranged by her maternal uncle.

Such a sad story indeed. May her soul rest in peace.
