The COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO) enforced to contain its spread has affected existing businesses, and budding entrepreneurs.

If your business has been affected, or if you have a business idea in mind but are facing challenges taking the first step into entrepreneurship in a post-COVID-19 world, Tesco, in collaboration with Astro, are here to help via the "Hero Bangkit" campaign that runs from August 6 to August 30, 2020, in conjunction with Merdeka.

Winners of this contest stand to win a RM5,000 cash voucher to help in their business idea, and also get free publicity for their business and free radio ads on ERA/MY stations and announcement of their business on TV via HLive!

To be eligible to enter this online contest, you must be a Malaysian citizen aged 18 and above (with valid identification card), who has a business or has just started your own (either registered or not registered), but has faced setbacks/challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in need of help to get back on own feet.

Where the contest allows those aged under 18 to enter, the contestant must obtain the consent of his/her parent, or legal guardian, who will be required to sign an indemnity in the form required by the organiser as a precondition to their child's entitlement to the prize.

How To Join?

All you have to do is join the “Hero Bangkit” contest and log on to www.herobangkit.com.my and select the language of your preference among the Malay/English/Chinese options.

Once in, contestants should share a brief background of their business (including the name, registration number if registered, and MyKad number if not registered), the type of business, its address and the number of employees.

They must describe how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected their business and what steps they are taking to build or rebuild it.

The contestants are then required to give reasons HOW they think the organiser should help their business and provide their respective business's email and contact number.

Entries MUST reach the organiser on or before 11.59pm on August 30, 2020.

Every contestant is allowed submit only ONE entry each, and duplicate or subsequent entries will be disqualified. The contestants must also adhere to the mechanism of the contest as may be changed, amended, notified or communicated by the organiser during the contest period, which runs from August 6 to August 30, 2020.

The voting process will take place between August 31 and September 4, 2020, and the winners will be announced between September 7 and 13, 2020.

Please note that the organiser reserves the right to vary, extend, postpone or re-schedule the contest period or any dates thereof at its sole discretion.

Who's Not Eligible?

Although the contest welcomes the participation of all Malaysian business owners who were affected by the pandemic, there are exceptions, as detailed below.

a) Employees/vendors/contractors and immediate family members (spouse, children, parents & siblings) of the organiser, MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd, Astro Entertainment Sdn Bhd, Astro Production Sdn Bhd, Astro Digital 5 Sdn Bhd and Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad, the sponsor of the contest and their affiliates and partners.

(b) Has won any prize(s) up to a value either individually or collectively of a value of RM1,000 and below from the organiser in the period of thirty (30) days prior to entering the contest.

(c) Has won any prize(s) up to a value either individually or collectively of a value of RM1,001 to RM5,000 from the Organiser in the period of ninety (90) days prior to entering the contest.

(d) Has won any prize(s) up to a value either individually or collectively of a value of RM5,001 and above from the organiser in the period of three hundred and sixty-five (365) days prior to entering the contest.

Selection of winners

The organiser has the absolute discretion to choose the most creative stories as the winners.

Ten winners will be selected from the entries submitted.

The winners of this contest stand a chance to win a free advertisement for their business that will be broadcasted on ERA/MY, as well as Tesco vouchers worth RM5,000 each.

The date and venue of the prizes will be advised later.
