Yet another minister has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a statement, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Mohd Harun was tested positive for the virus last night, after undergoing screening earlier yesterday.

"YB Rina was warded at the Sungai Buloh Hospital at 11am today undergo further monitoring and she will abide by all the guidelines set by the Health Ministry pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic," her ministry said in a brief statement this morning.

Earlier today, it was reported that all cabinet ministers will be subjected to COVID-19 swab tests after Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Mustapa Mohamed tested positive for the virus recently.

The Jeli MP tested positive after he was tested upon arrival in Kota Bharu from Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night, and is currently being treated at the Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

Rina is the third cabinet minister to be infected with the disease, after Mustapa and Islamic Affairs Minister Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, who tested positive for the coronavirus last October.

Of late, Malaysia has continuously recorded COVID-19 cases in the four digits.

Yesterday, 2,433 new infections and nine deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of cases and deaths to 135,992 and 551, respectively.

The global infection and death tally from the coronavirus have surpassed 90.6 million, and 1.94 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister is Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to make an announcement on the tightening of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to stem the spread of the disease, later today.
