Kedah has become the latest state in the country to achieve the green zone status, with zero active COVID-19 cases reported as of yesterday.
With this, Kedah becomes the third state to be free of active COVID-19 cases, after Perlis and Kelantan, according to the Health Ministry.
According to Health Ministry classifications, a green zone is identified as such if it does not have any recorded COVID-19 cases, or have previously recorded cases but currently does not have any active cases.
Yellow zones, meanwhile, are those with less than 20 cases recorded, while orange and red zones have between 20 and 40 cases, and more than 40 cases, respectively.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the number of green zones in the country stands at 88, while there are 57 yellow zones. The number of red zones remains at 12.
Meanwhile, small enterprises, including small and medium industries (SMEs) will be allowed to operate soon, senior minister (security cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob told a press conference this afternoon.
A standard operating procedure (SOP) on this will be announced soon, he said, without divulging further.
Small businesses and SMEs have been shuttered down since the MCO was enforced on March 18 to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The fourth phase of the MCO is currently in force, until May 12.
The COVID-19 outbreak in the country has seemingly been on a downtrend in the last few days.
Yesterday, 94 new cases were recorded, with no deaths.
To date, a total of 5,945 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the country, with 100 deaths.
Globally, the disease has affected more than 3.2 million people and killed more than 228,000.
