Malaysia has recorded 93.8 percent recovery rate of COVID-19 infections.
In a statement, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said a total of 8,000 COVID-19 patients have recovered so far, out of the 8,529 infections recorded in the country since the outbreak began in January.
The total number of active cases as of today is 408. Out of his only, only four patients are being treated at intensive care units (ICU), with none on ventilator support. Yesterday, 127 patients were discharged while 14 new cases were recorded.
Of the 14 cases, 11 are locally transmitted, while the remaining three are imported.
No deaths were recorded in the last four days, as the fatality rate remains at 121.
According to Noor Hisham, a total of 13,149 individuals have been screened at immigration depots nationwide, out of which 782 have tested positive.
The country is currently under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) until August 31.
Under the RMCO, almost all social and economic sectors are allowed to reopen, subject to strict adherence to the SOPs.
These include morning and night markets, food trucks, and food courts, among others. The domestic tourism sector was also reopened and activities like visiting museums and filming, were allowed to resume.
However, pubs, nightclubs, reflexology centres and theme parks are to remain closed, and gathering for feasts and for religious purposes are still prohibited.
Overseas travel is also included in the no-go list.
Globally, the infection and death tally from COVID-19 have surpassed 8.5 million and 456,000, respectively.
