The COVID-19 situation in the country continues to show improvement, with the number of green zones (virus-free zones) increasing to 64 from 56, as of yesterday.
According to Malaysiakini, the number of active COVID-19 cases also fell from 2,041 cases to 1,987 yesterday.
The 8 zones that are now COVID-19 free are Pasir Mas in Kelantan, Bera, Temerloh, Rompin and Cameron Highlands in Pahang, Jempol in Negeri Sembilan, and Tambunan in Sabah.
Currently, there are also no orange zones (those with 20-40 cases) in the country. The previously orange ones have now improved to become yellow zones (with less than 20 cases), bringing the total of yellow zones in the country to 71.
However, the number of red zones (areas with more than 40 cases) remains at 13, namely Petaling, Hulu Langat, Klang, Kepong, Lembah Pantai, Titiwangsa, Melaka Tengah, Seremban, Johor Bahru, Kluang, Kuantan, Kuching and Kota Samarahan.
To date, a total of 5,532 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the country, including 93 fatalities.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is scheduled to address the nation in a live telecast at 8pm today.
While the message is expected to touch on the Ramadhan month, which starts tomorrow, and upcoming Hari Raya, it is unclear if the premier will announce an extension to the Movement Control Order, which is now in its third phase, and ends on April 28.
You can catch Muhyiddin's speech live on Astro Vaanavil (Ch 201), Vinmeen (231) and Astro Ulagam, at 8pm.
