It is the end of the road for the "legendary" Perodua Kancil, which has of late, created a buzz on social media for being on the road despite its extremely shabby condition.

A team of cops from the Kuala Lumpur Traffic department (JSPT) seized the vehicle about 1am at Taman Metropolitan, Kepong, yesterday, after a TikTok video showed it travelling on the roads.

"Checks revealed that the car had no road tax and insurance, no roof and a burst front tyre.

"The 47-year-old driver from Raub, Pahang, also led the police to another green-coloured Perodua Kancil, which had no registration number and a broken window. Both vehicles have been seized under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987, as they are not fit enough to be on the road," said a post on the department's Facebook page.

The Kancil has earned the "legendary" moniker on social media due to its still being mobile despite its condition, and it being allegedly seen across state borders despite the movement restrictions currently in place.

The pysically unkempt driver of the vehicle, believed to be mentally unsound, was also issued a summons for driving without a license.

In the viral TikTok video, he is seen driving while sticking his head out of the car to see the road ahead, and holding the driver's side door with his right hand.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng had also urged the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to act against the vehicle as it posed a traffic hazard to other motorists.

Netizens are divided in their opinion on the seizure.

Some are saying the police should have just left the vehicle be, and focus on bigger issues at hand, while others opine that the vehicle should be put away for good as it is a danger to other motorists on the road.
