"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world," said the late South African leader Nelson Mandela.

Nuraini Jalaluddin is a testament to that - at least when it concerns "her world".

The 20-year-old daughter of a garbage truck driver was yesterday awarded with the 2019 Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) best student award under the B40 category, after scoring an impressive 5As with a CGPA of 4.0.

"I can't believe that my efforts in burning the midnight oil has paid off. This recognition has boosted my spirit to do better in my higher education," she was quoted saying by Harian Metro, at the STPM 2019 results announcement at the Malaysia Examination Board in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Nuraini, whose father drives a garbage truck with the Pengkalan Hulu district council, Perak, staunchly believes that education alone, can change her future for the better.

"My father has been driving garbage truck for 33 years, and will retire next month. I hope he can rest and enjoy his retirement," added the student of SMK Tun Saban, Pengkalan Hulu, Perak.

Bravo to Nuraini! She has proven that one's socio-economic status is no hindrance to education.

Let's hope she reaches greater heights in the future!
