Finally, the proposal to grant the special holiday before polling day to facilitate the movement of voters in the 15th General Election (GE15) has been taken into consideration by the caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as he declared Nov 18 and 19 public holidays.

The official announcement was made at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) at Presint 18, here today.
“The special holiday was given to encourage the people to carry out their responsibility and vote on polling day on Saturday.”

Along with that, 30 highway concession businesses consented to give out FREE tolls for Malaysian voters who will be travelling to their hometown to cast their votes.

"The free toll will commence at 12.01 am on November 18 (Friday) until 11.59 pm on November 19 (Saturday). It will apply equally to all Class 1 private cars only, which are estimated to make up around 90% of all the vehicles on the highway."
