If you are a registered Kad OKU holder in Malaysia, you may be eligible for several forms of financial assistance, depending on your employment status, income and personal circumstances.
From monthly allowances to business grants and education assistance, here are some of the benefits worth knowing about.
1. OKU Workers Allowance (EPOKU)
Eligible working or self-employed OKU individuals may receive RM450 per month under EPOKU.
Generally, applicants must:
- Be a Malaysian citizen
- Hold a valid Kad OKU
- Be aged 16 and above
- Have a monthly income generally between RM100 and RM1,700
2. Unable to Work Assistance (BTB)
OKU individuals who are medically certified as unable to work may receive RM300 per month under BTB.
Applicants may need medical or JKM confirmation, while household income must fall within the applicable Poverty Line Income (PGK). Certain age exemptions may also apply to applicants registered in 2024 or earlier.
Important: You can receive either EPOKU or BTB, but not both at the same time.
3. Full-Time Caregiver Allowance (BPT)
Caregivers providing full-time care to a bedridden OKU individual or someone with a chronic illness may be eligible for RM500 per month. The payment is made to the caregiver rather than the OKU individual.
Generally, household income must not exceed RM5,000 per month. A caregiver may also apply for more than one eligible person under their care.
Other benefits you may be eligible for
Depending on your circumstances, there are also other forms of assistance available, including:
- Geran Pelancaran - a one-off business grant of up to RM2,700
- EMBPK - RM150 monthly assistance for eligible OKU students in PPKI
- BKOKU - financial assistance of up to RM3,100 for eligible students pursuing higher education
- Tax relief - under Budget 2026, parents or caregivers of OKU children below 18 may be eligible for an additional RM10,000 in tax relief
