Kuala Lumpur is the best destination to be an expatriate this year, according to an international survey.

More than 12,000 expatriates in 186 countries and territories were interviewed for the research by InterNations network, which brings together more than four million expatriates.

According to survey, the elements that were factored in the research include the ease of finding housing and work, meeting friends, the cost of living, the quality of public transportation, as well as the healthcare system, political stability, and climate.

In topping the list, Kuala Lumpur emerged ahead of Singapore (5th), Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam (6th), Bangkok in Thailand (11th), and Shanghai in China (13th) in the Asian region.

The other countries which also made the top 10 list are Spain, Australia, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.
