Malaysia Begins National Month Celebrations with 'Malaysia MADANI: Prosperity Shared'

Malaysia has officially begun its National Month celebrations, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launching the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign 2026, marking the start of patriotic programmes that will take place across the country in the lead-up to National Day and Malaysia Day.

This year's National Day and Malaysia Day Celebrations (HKHM) carry the theme "Malaysia MADANI: Prosperity Shared", reflecting the Government's commitment to ensuring that the nation's progress, development and prosperity are enjoyed fairly and inclusively by every Malaysian.

The launch ceremony was held at the Sultan Azlan Shah Ministry of Health Training Institute (ILKKM SAS) in Perak. Organised by the Ministry of Communications through the Department of Information (JAPEN) in collaboration with the Perak State Government, the event brought together thousands of participants in a colourful celebration of Malaysia's diversity and unity.

The ceremony featured beautiful cultural performances representing the country's rich multicultural heritage. Students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) showcased traditional Malay, Chinese, Indian and Bornean gong drumming performances, while ILKKM SAS trainees delivered patriotic choir performances that added to the festive atmosphere.

Among those present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, Communications Minister Dato' Seri Fahmi Fadzil, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, Cabinet ministers and senior government officials.

One of the highlights of the event was the first public performance of the official theme song for the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, titled Aku Berjanji (I Promise), performed by Faizal Tahir.

The song carries a powerful message of unity, patriotism and togetherness, encouraging Malaysians to cherish the country's independence and continue safeguarding its peace, harmony and sovereignty.

To encourage nationwide participation, the official theme song, promotional toolkit and campaign materials have been made available for download through the Merdeka360 portal.

The Government is also encouraging Malaysians to proudly fly the Jalur Gemilang at their homes, offices and business premises throughout National Month as a symbol of love for the country and national pride.

In addition, the Ministry of Communications has invited the public to take part in the various National Day and Malaysia Day programmes that will be organised by government agencies, private organisations and non-governmental organisations across the country over the coming weeks.

Earlier in the day, more than 2,000 participants joined the Patriot Merdeka Run, which was flagged off by Ministry of Communications Secretary-General Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah.

The celebration also featured several community-focused initiatives under the Kita MADANI Programme, including the JAPEN Nationhood Exhibition, Wellness on Wheels (WOW), a mobile Dental Clinic and NADI on Wheels (NOW), bringing government services and health programmes closer to the people.

The programme was made possible through the collaboration of the Ministry of Health, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and Yayasan Bina Upaya Darul Ridzuan.

As National Month officially begins, Malaysians are encouraged to celebrate the spirit of Merdeka by flying the Jalur Gemilang, participating in patriotic events and embracing the values of unity, harmony and shared prosperity that define this year's theme, "Malaysia MADANI: Prosperity Shared."
