A medical certificate (MC) chit purportedly signed by former two-time prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is making its rounds on the internet, and it has got netizens excited.

The document was posted on Reddit by netizen @mr_trickshot, who said it belonged to his uncle.

According to Kosmo, the MC chit dated Sept 1, 1963, was issued at MAHA Klinik in Alor Setar, Kedah, and bears the signature and official stamp of Mahathir, when he was still a practising physician.

Netizens were quick to praise Mahathir's neat handwriting, saying it was unlike the usual scribble of many other doctors.

There were also those who called @mr_trickshot's uncle lucky for having had the privilege to meet the elderly statesman when he was still young.

Some netizens quipped that the rare document ought to be framed and preserved in a museum.

Mahathir, 96, served as the country's prime minister twice - first from July 1981 to October 2003, and then from May 2018 to March 2020.
