MyRapid Student Card : Students, You Can Get 50% Off Rapid KL Fares

If you’re a Malaysian student who relies on the LRT, MRT, Monorail or Rapid KL buses to get to school or campus, there’s a way to make your daily commute a little easier on your wallet.

The MyRapid Student Card, also known as Rapid Pelajar, offers eligible Malaysian students a 50% discount on fares across Rapid KL’s LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT and Rapid KL bus services.

Here’s what students need to know before applying.

Who can apply?

The discounted fare is available to Malaysian students across different levels of education, from primary and secondary school to college and university.

For primary and secondary school students, the discounted fare applies to students up to 17 years old, based on their year of birth. An original MyKad is required for verification. College and university students can also apply, but their student status needs to be renewed annually.

What do college and university students need?

Before applying, make sure you have these documents ready:

• A passport-sized photograph
• Original MyKad
• Original student card
• Original student confirmation letter issued within the past three months

There is one important detail to take note of: the confirmation letter must clearly state that your course or study duration is more than six months from the date of application. Offer letters are not accepted.

How much does it cost?

The initial application costs RM15, which consists of:

• RM5 for the card
• RM10 stored value in the card

After that, you can reload your card at Rapid KL Customer Service Counters, bus hubs, Touch 'n Go SPOT and other Touch 'n Go reload points. Students must also maintain a minimum purse value of RM5 to use the services.

How do you apply?

According to the information provided, new Rapid Pelajar applications can be made online through the official MyRapid website. Students simply need to prepare the required documents and upload them during the application process.

The 50% student fare discount does not apply to Park & Ride facilities.
