The Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN) is stepping up efforts to enliven the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) celebrations through the PENTARAMA Merdeka@HOHO programme, held at several popular locations across Kuala Lumpur.
The city tour, held in collaboration with the KL Hop-On Hop-Off (KL HOHO) double-decker bus service, is expected to engage more than 4,000 members of the public through two series of activities featuring live performances by cultural artists and PENTARAMA musicians.
The first series took place on Aug 22, 2026, beginning at SOGO Kuala Lumpur before moving on to the Petronas Twin Towers and concluding at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The second series is scheduled for Sept 12, starting at Dataran Merdeka, followed by Sungei Wang Plaza before concluding at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

In addition to the performances, Jalur Gemilang flags were distributed to members of the public to encourage Malaysians to fly the national flag under JAPEN’s 1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) initiative.
Introduced in 2024, PENTARAMA Merdeka@HOHO has continued this year as one of the programmes supporting the HKHM 2026 celebrations. The initiative aims to promote patriotism, togetherness and unity among Malaysians through entertainment and public engagement.
JAPEN Director-General Erwin Khairul Ahmad was also present at the programme.
