Perak police are probing a funeral procession that involved a helicopter and individuals on horses in Ipoh, Perak, on Saturday (Nov 27).

State police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said this after a police report was lodged against the procession, which is believed in violation of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the National Security Council (MKN) for funeral processions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A 30-second video of the funeral procession, said to be that of the owner of the oldest Indian traditional costume shop in Ipoh, has gone viral on social media over the weekend.

It shows a few inviduals on horses accompanying the hearse, as well as a low-flying helicopter scattering flower petals on the procession. (Refer to the video below).

According to Mior Faridalathrash, besides probing the organiser for SOP violation, police will also check if the procession organiser had received a green light from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) for the low flight path.
