Some 420,000 households in 290 areas in the Klang Valley are set to experience scheduled water supply disruption for four days, next week.

The disruption in five regions, namely Petaling, Klang, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Langat, will happen at varied timings from July 14 to July 17, due to upgrading works at the Sungai Selangor Phase 3 water treatment plant (LRA).

According to Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) operations head Abas Abdullah, the upgrading works will involve the shutting down of the plant to allow the replacement of several main valves in the network.

"Water supply recoveries in the areas involved will begin on July 15 (9am), and we estimate 48 percent of the affected areas will have the supply restored before 9am on July 16.

"The water supply is expected to be fully restored by 5pm on July 17," Abas told a press conference yesterday.

According to Abas, 91 water tankers will be mobilised to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centres.

Eight local service centres and six public water pipes will also be provided from July 16 to July 17 to help affected consumers, he added.
