If an eligible recipient of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) 2026 passes away, their registered family members or heirs may be able to claim assistance under the Skim Khairat Kematian (SKK).
The scheme covers eligible deaths occurring from 1 January 2026 until 31 December 2026. Claims can be made at any Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branch nationwide, provided the claimant meets the requirements and brings the necessary documents.
Here’s what you need to know before heading to the bank.
Who Can Make the Claim?
The person eligible to make the claim depends on the recipient’s marital status recorded in the approved STR 2026 application.
For married recipients, priority is given to the surviving Malaysian spouse or registered partner listed in the STR system. If the applicant or spouse is unable to visit the bank personally, the registered heir recorded in the STR 2026 application may make the claim, subject to the required supporting documents.
For single parents with eligible children or elderly recipients without a spouse, the claim can be made by the registered heir stated in the application.
Eligible family relationships may include:
- Spouse
- Children, including biological, stepchildren and legally adopted children
- Parents
- Siblings
- Grandchildren
What Documents Do You Need?
Before visiting a BSN branch, make sure you have the necessary documents ready to avoid delays.
Claimants will need to bring:
- The original death certificate or a certified copy issued by the National Registration Department (JPN)
- The claimant’s original identification document
- Any additional supporting documents required for verification
The documents will be checked by the bank before the claim can be processed.
When Can You Make the Claim?
The SKK covers eligible deaths that occur between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2026. Eligible claimants can process the payout directly at BSN counters nationwide.
Losing a loved one is already difficult enough, and dealing with paperwork can make things even more stressful.
If you believe your family may be eligible for the STR 2026 Death Benefit, check your details and prepare the required documents before heading to the bank.
