Touch 'n Go Introduces New Enhanced RFID Lane - Here's What Drivers Need to Know

Touch 'n Go has rolled out its new Enhanced RFID lane at the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH) Dato' Keramat toll plaza, marking a significant step towards improving traffic flow and reducing congestion at toll plazas.

The newly upgraded lane is easily identifiable by a gold star symbol displayed on its RFID signage. Unlike conventional RFID lanes, the Enhanced RFID system is powered by Touch 'n Go's locally developed Titan Flow platform, which integrates RFID scanning with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and LiDAR technology. This combination enables the system to detect vehicles with an impressive 99.98% accuracy under real-world driving conditions.

One of the key advantages of the Enhanced RFID Lane is its ability to allow vehicles to travel through the toll at speeds exceeding 50km/h, helping to improve overall traffic flow by as much as 30%.

The upgraded system remains fully compatible with existing RFID tags and is supported by the TNG eWallet SOS Balance feature. This feature allows motorists with insufficient eWallet balance to continue their journey without interruption and has already helped approximately 36 million users avoid being stranded at toll plazas.

By combining multiple verification technologies, the Enhanced RFID Lane provides more accurate vehicle detection while laying the groundwork for Malaysia's future Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) barrier-free toll collection system.

Following the launch at AKLEH, Touch 'n Go plans to expand the technology by introducing at least 10 additional Enhanced RFID lanes across highways nationwide before the end of the year.
