The country's prolonged COVID-19 lockdown seems to have dumbed down many people, who have gotten themselves into trouble after uploading videos of them breaking the law.
Joining the club are three youths from Perak, who are in trouble after they were spotted in a now-viral video gathering outside a house for a drinking session, while one of them brandishes a fake pistol!
According to Bernama, the short video clip was shot on Thursday evening, before going viral on WhatsApp. The men, aged between 20 and 22, were detained on Friday evening at Jalan Kg Paloh, Ipoh, and cops seized an imitation firearm resembling a semi-automatic pistol from one of them.
All three suspects are now under remand, and being probed under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960 for possession of an imitation firearm without a valid licence. If convicted, they can be jailed for not more than one a year, or fined not more than RM5,000, or both.
Last week, a 17-year-old girl from Perak was slapped with a RM5,000 fine after she uploaded a video of her removing her COVID-19 home quarantine wristband, on TikTok.
In June, the Kedah police arrested 11 individuals, including two women, after a video of them celebrating Father's Day despite the Movement Control Order (MCO) restrictions, went viral on social media after it was uploaded on TikTok.
In addition, the group was also probed for gang ties after one of the men in the video was spotted cutting a cake in the form of number 35.
Gang 35 is reportedly a notorious triad involved in drug trafficking, criminal intimidation, robbery and other cases in the Sungai Petani area.
