The UK's Royal Mint has released a gold bar with an image of Hindu Goddess of Wealth, Lakshmi, on it.

Retailing at 1,080 pounds (RM6,122), the 20 gram gold bar was designed by Royal Mint designer Emma Noble, following a close collaboration with the Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Cardiff.

"With gold being a traditional and auspicious gift during the Diwali festival, we wanted to develop a product that incorporates both beauty and tradition, but with a modern twist," The Indian Express quoted Andrew Dickey, the Divisional Director for Precious Metals at the Royal Mint as saying.

The Royal Mint is a government-owned mint that produces coins for the United Kingdom.

It is worth noting that the Royal Mint had previously released gold bars weighing 1 and 5 grams in henna-inspired packaging last year, which proved very popular among the Indian diaspora in the UK.

The Lakshmi bar, which will be wrapped in a box with an Om symbol, can be bought from the official website of the Royal Mint.
