While India is still digesting the news of the shooting of 4 rapists involved in Dr. Priyanka Reddy's rape in Hyderabad, the fallout from another rape in Unnao took a tragic turn.
The 23-year old victim was raped by two men, Shivam and Shubham Trivedi, in December 2018 and filled a case against them. However, the accused started threatening and following the rape victim once they secured bail in November 2019.
Despite making a complaint at the Bihar Police Station, the victim did not get the help she needed. She was beaten up, stabbed and set ablaze by five men, including the two rapists, while she was on her way to the case trial.
The victim ran over a kilometre seeking for help while she was still ablaze, and was later admitted to the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital with 90% burn injuries.
The victim managed to give a statement and identify the five men who attacked her, before dying in the hospital last night. Police have now nabbed all the five accused - Harishankar Trivedi, Ram Kishore Trivedi, Umesh Bajpai, Shivam, and Shubham Trivedi.
