A recent episode of Lakshmy Ramakrishnan's 'Nerkonda Paarvai' featuring an Indian immigrant who worked in Malaysia sent shock waves throughout the country.

The man who identified himself as Velayutham from Pudhupettai alleged that he was subjected to unlawful practices at the restaurant he worked at in Malaysia. Although the show didn't name the restaurant, it was later identified as 'Masala Wheels', a well-known social enterprise based in Petaling Jaya.

According to Velayutham, the restaurant has five 'owners', and only one of the owners allegedly mentally and physically abused the workers. The news reached the ears of Malaysian Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan who immediately set up a LIVE interview with Lakshmy Ramakrishnan.
