Almost 1,000 areas in Selangor are expected to experience water supply disruptions from October 13 to 16.
In a statement, Air Selangor chief executive officer Suhaimi Kamaralzaman said this is due to upgrading and maintenance works at the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant Phase 1, which would require it to be shut down.
According to him, the works were initially scheduled to be done in 2019 and last year, but had to be postponed due to water-pollution incidents that resulted in large-scale unscheduled water supply disruption.
The duration of the water supply disruption and recovery would depend on the distance of the consumers' premises, as well as the water pressure at the distribution, Suhaimi added, reported Free Malaysia Today (FMT).
Among the areas hit include Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat, and Kuala Selangor.
Suhaimi urged consumers urged consumers to store enough water to last them during the disruption period, and noted that water tankers will be made available at critical premises such as hospitals, and water filling stations will be made available for commercial consumers.
