Is this just another on-set clash or something far more serious? The controversy involving Diwakar, popularly known as Watermelon Star, and Cook with Comali has now taken a dramatic turn, escalating into a legal battle.
What started as rumours from the sets of the show’s seventh season has now reached the police. Diwakar has filed an official complaint at the Nasrathpettai police station and later approached the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office, naming three familiar faces from the show : Ma Ka Pa Anand, Pugazh, and Gaana Vinoth.
In his complaint, Diwakar has made serious allegations. He claims that during a shoot at EVP Film City, Ma Ka Pa Anand, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, attacked him with an iron rod, causing injury to his leg. He also alleged that tensions were brewing on set, claiming that Pugazh was uncomfortable with his presence, fearing that Diwakar might outshine him. Adding to the controversy, he accused Gaana Vinoth of verbally abusing him and making derogatory remarks about his family.
The situation took an even darker turn when Diwakar alleged that he received death threats after filing the complaint. According to him, Gaana Vinoth warned that he would not be able to continue working in Chennai, hinting at powerful “connections.”
However, the other side of the story paints a completely different picture.
Watermelon 🍉 star abused a woman on set and used caste discrimination slurs, which made him go out of Cook with Comali—not me. I’m standing for 18 hours straight; how can I do that if I consumed alcohol ?

Responding strongly, Ma Ka Pa Anand denied all allegations and instead accused Diwakar of inappropriate behaviour on set. He claimed that Diwakar made uncomfortable remarks towards female contestants, including a shocking comment directed at a contestant’s wife. According to him, the situation became serious enough for the team to intervene, following which the channel management asked Diwakar to leave the show.
Ma Ka Pa further stated that this was not an isolated incident, alleging that Diwakar had displayed similar behaviour in a previous show and was removed midway there as well.
Addressing the claims about being intoxicated during the shoot, Ma Ka Pa firmly denied them. He expressed disappointment over the accusation, stating that he works long hours and that no professional production would tolerate such conduct.
With both sides making serious and conflicting claims, the controversy has now moved beyond social media debates into a legal space. As investigations continue, the truth behind what really happened on the sets of Cook with Comali remains unclear.
