Anirudh and Vijay

Renowned composer Anirudh Ravichander, who also serves as the music director for Jana Nayagan, will helm the 10-hour Thalapathy Thiruvizha tribute concert, a special musical evening dedicated to Thalapathy Vijay ahead of his formal retirement from cinema.

The announcement has stirred deep emotions among fans, especially as Jana Nayagan marks the final collaboration between Vijay and Anirudh. In a recent interview, Anirudh shared that the film’s re-recording work is currently in full swing, with the team carefully shaping the music and background score.

Speaking to Sun News, Anirudh expressed the mixed emotions surrounding the project. He acknowledged a sense of sadness knowing that Jana Nayagan will be Vijay’s last film, while also emphasising the responsibility of translating that emotion into music. He shared that the team is striving to let the feelings of farewell, gratitude, and celebration resonate through the score.

The tribute concert will feature around 40 iconic songs from Vijay’s filmography, alongside tracks from Jana Nayagan. Several of India’s leading playback singers will join Anirudh on stage, including Anuradha Sriram, S.P. Charan, Tippu, Shweta Mohan, Andrea Jeremiah, Krish, and Saindhavi, among others.

Adding a distinct Malaysian spectacle to the evening, Tamil rap pioneers Yogi B and Natchatra are set to perform their popular track Happy New Year from Vijay’s 2008 blockbuster Kuruvi, promising an electrifying moment for fans.

The audio launch of Jana Nayagan will take place immediately after the concert, with Vijay concluding the night with his much-awaited address. Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Anirudh described it as Vijay’s final audio launch and hinted that the evening would be memorable and celebratory in its own way.

He also revealed that he is preparing a special medley as a personal tribute to his journey with Vijay, featuring music from films such as Kaththi, Master, Beast, Leo, and Jana Nayagan. Calling it his way of saying thank you, Anirudh said the medley is crafted with deep emotion and gratitude.

As anticipation builds, fans believe the night will be an emotional one. The team is working towards ensuring that the final chapter of the Thalapathy -Anirudh collaboration is remembered not just as a concert or an audio launch, but as a heartfelt tribute to our one and only Thalapathy Vijay.

We can't wait for the much-anticipated event ; it's going to be emo for each and every attendee.
