While most Malaysians know the legendary ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth from the silver screen, the residents of Taman Cheras had their very own off-screen superstar - Aunty Rajni, the heart and soul of a local petrol station for over three decades.

For many, Aunty Rajni whose real name is Ragini wasn’t just an employee; she was family. Her warm smile, kind nature, and dedication made her a beloved figure in the community. After years of serving customers with care and love, her retirement on 19 August marked the end of an era that touched countless lives.

Nadhira Khalim, the dealer who took over the station in 2022, shared how deeply Aunty Rajni’s absence is felt. “It’s been almost a week, and I already miss her. The station just feels different without her,” she said.

A widow with no children of her own, Aunty Rajni found family in her colleagues and loyal customers. She treated them like her own and cherished the bonds she built over the years. Even after undergoing eye surgery, her commitment never wavered, she returned with the same passion, eager to continue doing what she loved most.

Eventually, due to health reasons and moving to a new place, Aunty Rajni decided it was time to step away from work. When the news of her retirement surfaced online, waves of nostalgia and love poured in from the community. People recalled childhood memories of seeing her at the station and praised her for her kindness and cheerful spirit.

For Taman Cheras, Aunty Rajni is more than just a name, she represents warmth. Her story reminds us that even in the simplest roles, we have the power to leave lasting imprints on people’s lives.
