The comedian roots trace back to a modest upbringing along the banks of the Wagai River in Madurai. His father's occupation as a labourer in a glass cutting factory belied the genius that was budding within young Vadivelu. He would often spontaneously engage in street performances, captivating onlookers with his talent. It was during one of these impromptu acts that director T. Rajender recognised his extraordinary gift and extended to him a pivotal role in 'N Thangi Kalyani.
However, Vadivelu's cinematic odyssey was truly initiated through a serendipitous encounter during a train journey to his wedding when he crossed paths with actor Rajkiran. This happenstance meeting served as Vadivelu's gateway into the illustrious world of cinema, culminating in his debut performance in the 1991 film 'En Rasavan Manasile.'
Notably, the influential actor Vijaykanth played a pivotal role in shaping Vadivelu's early career, affording him opportunities in notable productions such as 'Chinna Gounder' and subsequently entrusting him with significant roles in successive projects.
With that being said, Vadivelu emerged as a luminary in the Kollywood landscape during an era when comedy legends like Goundamani, Senthil, and Charlie were at the zenith of their careers. His distinctive comedic style, complemented by unforgettable portrayals in films such as Kamal Haasan's 'Singaravelan,' swiftly garnered him an ardent following. Vadivelu's remarkable versatility, his adeptness in transforming into an array of characters, and his knack for delivering humour in diverse dialects and languages, collectively elevated him to the revered title of the 'King of Comedy' in Kollywood.
