A mother’s decision to wait with her child at school every morning before going to work recently touched many hearts online. She shared that although her child said everything was fine, a mother’s instinct told her otherwise. Unable to leave her child alone so early in the morning, she chose to stay by the child’s side until friends arrived.

Her story moved many people, but among the comments was another touching story, one that highlighted the selfless love of a teacher named Cikgu Yuneswari.

A man recalled how, during his school days, he had to arrive at school as early as 6AM every morning because his father needed to catch a bus to Kuala Lumpur. Whether he liked it or not, he had no choice but to wait at school long before classes began.

At first, no one knew about his struggle except the security guard. But one day, his Mathematics teacher, Cikgu Yuneswari, found out.

From that moment on, she made a sacrifice few people would ever know. Every morning, she came to school at 6AM not because she had to, but because she did not want her student to be alone.

She waited for him in class while he completed his morning prayers. Once he was done, she would spend the early hours revising Mathematics lessons with him before school officially started.

While many people were still asleep, she was already in the classroom, teaching with patience, care and sincerity.

She turned lonely mornings into learning moments. She turned hardship into hope. She turned sacrifice into success.

Her dedication bore fruit when the student went on to score an outstanding 10A1 in the 2007 SPM examination.

He later shared that this achievement was possible largely because of the efforts and sacrifices of the late Cikgu Yuneswari.

“She wasn’t just a teacher. She was like a mother to me,” he said.

Stories like this remind us that teachers do far more than teach subjects. Some teachers quietly carry the burdens of their students, stand beside them in silence, and help shape futures through kindness no one else sees.

Cikgu Yuneswari may no longer be here, but the impact of her love, discipline and sacrifice continues to live on through the life she helped transform.
