But for one elderly couple from Maharashtra, imagining was never enough.
At 81, when most choose the comfort of familiar surroundings, he chose the adventure of a lifetime not for a holiday, but for a dream that had lived in his heart for decades. He didn’t want to just see Everest from afar; he wanted to stand before it, to feel its presence, to lock eyes with the highest peak in the world.
With his wife by his side, hand in hand, they set off defying age, limitations, and the whispers of doubt that said, It’s too late.
Reaching 17,000 feet above sea level wasn’t easy. The air was thin, the risks real. But thanks to helicopter pilot Andy Thapa, who took on the challenge at the wife’s heartfelt request, they got there. The couple stepped out onto the mountain, the wife steadying her husband as he leaned on his walking stick, both gazing at the majesty of Everest just ahead.
It wasn’t just a view they had conquered. It was fear. It was hesitation. It was every reason life had given them to stay home.
Because dreams have no expiry date and it’s never too late to chase what makes your heart race.
