Hemitraa Ravichandran – a name that’s been shining brightly in the hearts of Malaysians is once again making headlines for an achievement that’s nothing short of extraordinary.

From capturing hearts on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs Season 4 to now lending her voice to A.R. Rahman's song “Anju Vanne Poove” in Thug Life, Hemitraa’s journey is the stuff of dreams.

What makes this moment even more surreal? This young Malaysian talent didn’t just sing in one language, she recorded chorus vocals in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu for one of India’s most iconic music composers. Yes, A.R. Rahman himself.

A million-dollar question which is, how did it happen?

Speaking to her mother, Megalatha Muniandy, we learned that this opportunity came as a surprise. It all began with Hemitraa’s impressive performances on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs, where her voice and talent didn’t go unnoticed.

One day, someone passed Megalatha a phone number, asking her to bring Hemi to a studio for a recording. What they didn’t expect was to walk into A.R. Rahman's legendary studio. It was only upon arrival that they realised where they were, a moment Megalatha described as pure goosebumps.

For a mother who has poured everything into nurturing her daughter’s dreams while juggling her own studies and life’s daily challenges, this was a moment of pride, disbelief, and deep gratitude.

Hailing from a humble background, Hemitraa’s story is one of quiet strength and unwavering passion. Her mother shared how balancing school, practice, and travel all while supporting a young child’s artistic pursuit wasn’t easy. But with her husband’s support and sheer determination, they made it happen.

Hemitraa’s mother, offered deep insight into the dedication behind this young talent’s success. From driving her daughter across states for various competitions to making quick outfit changes at petrol stations, Megalatha has gone above and beyond, proving that a mother’s love knows no limits when it comes to nurturing her child’s passion.

“I just wanted to give her every opportunity I never had,” Megalatha shared. “If that meant waiting long hours, travelling far, or changing costumes by the roadside, I did it all with pride. Because I saw something in her, and I couldn’t let that spark fade.”

Her goal throughout the entire conversation, stands as a powerful reminder that behind every young achiever is often a parent who believed in them long before the world did.

At just 12 years old, Hemitraa, who studies at SJK (T) Mahkota Cheras, already holds a gold medal for Thirumurai recitation, showcasing her dedication not just to music, but to cultural heritage too.

A quit girl with loud impact!

They say never judge a quiet girl because you never know the power she holds. Hemitraa is living proof. From a schoolgirl in Cheras to singing for A.R. Rahman across three languages, she has shown that talent knows no borders, and age is never a limit.

Hemitraa Ravichandran’s voice is not just echoing in India’s music scene, it’s resonating as a symbol of Malaysian pride. Here’s to many more milestones, to more goosebumps moments, and to every young dreamer daring to dream big.
