At a recent media interaction during the trailer launch of ‘Indian 2,’ director S. Shankar was asked about the changes he noticed in Kamal Haasan after working on the sequel to the 1996 film. Shankar praised Haasan for continuously updating his acting skills, calling it a vital quality for any actor.

He remarked, "Once actors become senior and keep on doing roles, they may become repetitive, and over time, the audience may get bored with their performance. But today, I saw Kamal sir, and all his performances are top-notch."

Speaking about the changes he observed in Shankar after more than two decades, Kamal Haasan expressed a different opinion.

"The Shankar I see today, with all the experience from the first film, is very confident. Initially, I was not too willing to do the movie because I had another story, which was very similar. Actors often have this problem: wanting to do one movie over another. I faced that issue too. I wanted to do it again with Shivaji sir, but he never budged. Eventually, I raised my money. The producer didn't move, but he kept faith because the director said, 'If I make the film, I'll make it only with this gentleman.' And he was confident, like a very savvy, seasoned director, who surprised me. The same cool, calm 'start' and 'cut' I hear even today, said Kamal.

‘Indian 2,’ set to release on July 12, features an ensemble cast including Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani, and Nedumudi Venu. The film's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
