Who wouldn't know the renowned for her acting brilliance and extraordinary talent in classical dance, Bhanupriya has long been celebrated as a true artist who breathed life into every performance. Dance was not merely an art form for her; it was her soul’s expression. Even as she carved a successful career in cinema, her deep-rooted passion for dance remained unwavering.

"I started learning dance in my childhood. After school, I prioritised dance over homework. I would choreograph steps to songs I heard on the radio, and that’s when my family enrolled me in formal training. That skill later became my greatest asset in cinema," she once shared.

Her portrayal of a dancer in Swarnakamalam remains one of the most exquisite cinematic representations of classical dance, with films like Sitaara, Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, and Rajashilpi further showcasing her mesmerizing artistry. In Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, a memorable dance-off between Bhanupriya and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy became the film’s defining moment, leaving audiences spellbound.

However, in a recent interview, Bhanupriya revealed a deeply personal and heartbreaking moment. The actress, who once found solace in dance, has lost her passion for it. The turning point came in 2018 with the untimely passing of her husband. Overcome with grief, she withdrew from the public eye, and soon after, she began experiencing memory loss. Everyday activities became difficult, film dialogues slipped from her mind, and, most painfully, the love she once had for dance began to fade.

"A few years ago, I started forgetting things. That’s when I realised my health was deteriorating. I had dreamt of opening my own dance studio, but I have abandoned that dream now. I don’t even practise at home anymore," she admitted.

For those who admired her grace and artistry, this revelation is deeply saddening. Yet, Bhanupriya’s journey is one of resilience. Though she may have stepped away from dance, the legacy she has built through her performances will forever inspire generations of artists.
